Video is extremely popular with the search engines and can be a good way to build traffic and links.
An alternative to showing your face on a video on the web is to record a slideshow whilst you do a voice over. This can be an excellent way to explain anything that you can show on a PC screen. The great news is that there are 2 good free tools for recording short screen casts:
The first is Jing which allows you to record up to 5 minutes of screencast on Mac or PC. Simply select the window you want to record and Jing records everything that is displayed in that window. You can then narrate the screencast by using an headset. It is worth getting a decent headset because the human eye can compensate for mediocre video if it has good quality audio.
2. Camstudio is an alternative free tool but only for the PC. Camstudio has no 5 minute maximum recording limit. (Camstudio is not to be confused with Camtasia Studio which is Jing’s elder brother and is a fully featured commercial product.)
An alternative to video is to use audio only; for example a recording of a seminar or workshop published as an audio download or podcast. Again there is a great free tool for doing this which works on both Mac and PC.
Audacity is a free tool that can record and edit audio. You can edit pitch, remove background noise and Audacity will also allow you to record very long sessions. I have even used it to record tele-conferences and left it running for as long as 3 hours.
Enhance your product, blog, emails, sales copy or practically any other way that you communicate with your prospects or customers by using one of these great tools.
